America-India Two Plus Two Conversation in Washington DC
Had a very meaningful and in-depth discussion at the 2+2 Ministerial Meeting in Washington DC.
During the meeting, India shared our assessments of the situation in our neighbourhood and Indian Ocean Region.
India-US Defence Cooperation is being further expanded and strengthened.
The 2+2 meeting today is important in strengthening the strategic defence engagement between India and US and will enable us to work alongside in number of areas of mutual interest.
Our increased cooperation will be critical to maintain peace and security, and to ensure free access to global commons.

Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar concluded a ‘productive and substantive’ US-India 2+2 ministerial dialogue and further hailed ties between the two sides. On Monday, April 11, S Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken held discussions on several issues including the ongoing Russia- Ukraine war.

The US has not yet made any decision on potential sanctions or waivers to India under CATSAA law for its purchase of the S-400 missile defence system from Russia, Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said. The US administration is required under its domestic law, Countering America’s Adversaries through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) to impose sanctions on any country that has significant transactions with Iran, North Korea or Russia.
